Project: Wantage Townhouse

We get all shapes and sizes of projects landing here in the design studio. This marvellous client wanted to refresh all four bedrooms with top to toe newness. We thought about doing a quick blog post to show the initial stages of the project, and to demonstrate we really do offer everything from a one room refresh to an entire home.

Our first stage is getting to know the client and the requirements for every room. This is when everyone can add creativity into the space and thanks to the experience that Danielle Sinclair has to bring in 'design for living' the value is added from day one. We think of things that are often missed, colour palettes never dreamed of, adding a dressing table, changing flooring, built in storage, a day to night lighting scheme, a flexible work space, ideas to make rooms appear larger, cosier and more.

Next, we measure up and provide detailed floor plans and mood boards for discussion in our face to face consultations which will always include budget discussions. These meetings often include samples and suggested colours, identify suppliers required, product boards and a scope of work with timelines.

This project included the transformation of a master bedroom, two guest rooms (one to become a home gym) and a single bedroom which could double up as a workspace. The rooms were just being used a a dumping ground for old furniture and had no purpose, we stripped them out and at this stage any first fix jobs were to be completed, like electrics and changes to plumbing, prepping the flooring before preparing the rooms for painting.

Often clients don't know where to start when it comes to making buying decisions, don't worry, we offer a turnkey solution and do the shopping and the installation for you. Yes of course we encourage our clients to come along too, shopping for beds and sofas is such a personal experience which we need you to be part of. Once the overall scheme has been approved the interior designer works hard to pin down every detail of the project.

Orders for the big items get done as soon as possible, in this case bespoke headboards, ottomans, blinds and pelmets which can take up to 12 weeks to manufacture. Danielle Sinclair works with trusted manufacturers and craftsman to ensure this process runs smoothly and the quality of the end product is exceptional.

We work closely with our clients at every stage and can offer various levels of project management from using full online software solutions - Basecamp or similar, to simple email and text updates. We will get an idea from early on in the project what is your preferred way of working, we always use time tracking and accounting software to keep track of the project and keep things fully transparent. News to follow on this project, don't hesitate to contact us on email or mobile if you would like to discuss your next project on ds@daniellesinclairdesign.co.uk
